And inform you that the college Agency for Development and Quality recently been established to achieve advanced levels of development and quality of all the roles and functions of college education, research and community service in line with the developmental movement at the university and higher education.
The aim of the Agency for Development and Quality at the Faculty of Science of Food and Agriculture to devote the concept of quality and dissemination of culture at the college level, and oversee the implementation of the program quality and performance. In addition to the implementation of programs of evaluation and academic accreditation, and supervise the preparation and implementation of the strategic plan for college and technical programs electronic and distance education, identifying the difficulties faced by software development and quality and propose appropriate solutions, and supervision of the Excellence Awards identify the training needs of faculty members, students and employees of the college.

About the department:
When it established the Faculty of Agriculture in 1385 with the beginning of the academic year 1402 - 1403 she joined the students in one section devoted nutrition and home economics emanating from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Community.
Change the name of college to the College of Food and Agricultural Sciences, in the academic year 1424/1425, was also change the wording of specialty nutrition and home economics to allocate food science and nutrition in the year 1426 the number of graduates of this specialty in the first batch (1406/1407 AH) 35 graduate rose 55 to graduate in the next year, and the number of graduates increases in reciting the other terms have been able to cover the non-moving part of the needs of government and private sectors in the areas of nutrition, and various areas of the domestic economy.
The college offers students bachelor's degree in nutrition and food science and a master's degree and doctorate in human nutrition.

Objectives:
- Rehabilitation specialists in the areas of food science and human nutrition appropriate knowledge and skills for the labor market, by providing high-quality academic programs at the undergraduate level and graduate studies.
- The development of knowledge in the areas of food science and human nutrition through applied research.
- The transfer of knowledge through written and translated books in the areas of food science and human nutrition.

Welcome to the Department of food sciences and human Nutrition in the College of food and agriculture. Our department houses an outstanding program to participate in high impact learning experiences, including practice and research projects to equip student for professional nutrition application skills.
Our nutrition science activates offering up to date news in areas of nutrition research includes educate the individuals and communities about the Health and Nutrition through training workshops, seminars, symposiums and conferences in addition works with industry representatives in areas of nutrition research.
Our website is a bridge to find an opportunities to network and build a relationships with individuals and communities who are interested in our fields. It aims also to an increased understanding about nutrition and food process.
Interestingly, our department is achieving to work in line with Saudi Vision 2030, to diversify the economy, the country will focus on key growth sectors including health, nutrition and education. Our goal is to promote the academic and intellectual growth of the department and ensure effective use of resources to meet the objectives of the college and achieve student learning.
The department of food science and nutrition programs are applied for academic accreditation for under and post graduate programs. Our post graduate programs are comprised of the best resources with a research opportunities. With its diverse faculty, the programs present a range of opportunities to pursue innovative research and engage in challenging academic study. The multidisciplinary nature of the program encourages students to pursue their unique research interests and work with faculty from a variety of nutrition fields.

Welcome from the Chairman
I am delighted to welcome you to Gateway of Department of Food Science and Nutrition. I hope you will find the Gateway useful as you brows it.
The department of Food Science and Nutrition was established in 1385H (1965G), as one of the main departments in the college of Agriculture under the name of food industry - the first departments of food science and nutrition at universities in Saudi Arabia. When the College of Food and Agriculture Sciences was established in 1385H (1965G). In 1401H (1981G) the name of the department became the Department of Food Science to include all areas within food science beside the food industry. In 1410H corresponding to 1989G plan were implemented new courses qualify students in the areas of food science and human nutrition. In the year 1413H (1992G) was created a program for Master of Science in "Food Science". In 1417H (1996G), changed the name of the department to the Department of Food Science and Nutrition to reflect fully the areas of "Food Science and Nutrition". In 1425H corresponding to 2004G was the establishment of the Ph.D. program in human nutrition (female students). Currently the fourth plan is developing in the department after the application of the preparatory year to college’s students and allocate students in the department immediately after enrolling in college.
